Established in 1830, Downtown Bloomington is the cultural core and historic heart of the City. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, the district hosts a vibrant arts and music scene, unique shopping experiences, and local flares and flavors. Located along historic Route 66, Historic Downtown Bloomington features many historically significant buildings, including the former offices of Abraham Lincoln and local architecture.
Downtown offers an array of cultural assets including a community of artists, galleries, a history museum, bars and musical entertainment, a farmer’s market, several festivals, restaurants, retail shops, service providers, governmental and judicial bodies, a legal and professional scene, and a residential community.
