Coalescence Theatre Project and The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts are partnering to present the
#ShePERSISTED: New Play Festival

The deadline for play consideration is October 1st, 2019.
Script submissions may be sent to Coalescence Theatre Project at

The #ShePERSISTED festival of new plays will feature new work by Women, Femme and Non-Binary playwrights. Four one-act plays will be presented as staged readings, acted and directed by Bloomington-Normal area artists. The quartet of plays will bring focus and contrast to female voices in contemporary society.
The presentations will be followed by moderated discussions of the work. The curators of the #ShePERSISTED festival are, Rachel Hettrick (she, her, hers) and Ann Haugo (she, her, hers) Coalescence Executive Artistic Director, Don Shandrow (he,him, his).

The plays have been arriving continuously and reflect vibrant voices with the energy and diversity we were hoping to see. The plays we’ve received are not only from Chicago, Los Angeles and New York but also places such as Minneapolis, Omaha, New Orleans, Atlanta and many other locations from across the country.

The Coalescence Theatre Project is a nationally recognized and award-winning theatre that exists to incite our community to thoughtful action. Our logo, an abstract representation of the genetic tree of life, reminds us that we all come from one common Ancestor. We focus on unheard stories and offer a place where the silent and the underrepresented have a voice. Coalescence Theatre Project aspires to be a home where play, discovery, and learning are celebrated, and our audience reflects the diversity of the community we serve. Our mission is equity and inclusion in the exploration of identity and our place in a global community.

Tickets can be purchased online at, by phone at (309) 434-2777 or in person at the Ticket Office located at 600 N. East St., Bloomington, IL.
